Overseas Work
There are both advantages and disadvantages to working overseas. Looking for a job overseas will in fact be similar to searching for a job in the U.K, however there are factors that will need consideration.
The benefits of working overseas
If you have been living in the U.K for most of your life, the first thing that will strike you when you travel overseas is the change in weather! Most countries will be a good couple of degrees warmer than here in the U.K. The cultures in each country will probably be vastly different to anything that you may have experienced before, not to mention the countless delicacies that are available to tempt your palate. Working overseas will provide you will all these new experiences along with the opportunity to travel the world and earn money at the same time.
The drawbacks of working overseas
Actually finding a job overseas may prove to be a difficult experience. Before you set off to your chosen country it is in your interests to have a contract of employment. It is best to have a firm offer of work in writing, than to arrive and have nothing. Accommodation is another area that shouldn't be left to chance, and ideally should be organised before you leave. If you accept an offer of employment with a large company/multinational overseas, accommodation could be an area they can help you with.
Finally, although the yearning for fairer shores are appealing for some it could be the first time you have been away from home; and living without the support of family and friends for a period can be a daunting, if not lonely experience.
