Travel Checklist (...continued...)
4) Do you have a valid passport?
Good work! Applying for a passport can take longer than you might expect. What with having to get photos, have them certified, and find any other documents you might need, the whole process can take up to two months. It’s worth checking the expiry date on your passport – it needs to be valid for at least six months from the date of your return. To be on the safe side, don’t make any travel arrangements until you have your new passport.

5) Do you have the correct visas for travelling to and working in your planned destination?
Congratulations! You’ve found out that depending on where you are going during your gap year you may be required to have a visa in order to enter the country and that some places may ask you to obtain a work permit before you can be employed. Checking requirements with the relevant Consulate or Embassy before you travel ensures you avoid disappointment on arrival.
